Money Matters - Web forum about managing finances with cancer
People affected by cancer including family and friends are invited to take part in a free live web forum about managing finances after a cancer diagnosis.

Prostate Cancer Telephone Groups
People often find it helpful to talk with others who have been through a similar experience. That's why people affected by prostate cancer are invited to join confidential telephone groups for the cost of a local call.

COSA welcomes Cancer Voices Victoria
The Clinical Oncological Society of Australia (COSA) welcomes the establishment of Cancer Voices Victoria. COSA is the peak national body representing health professionals whose main work is cancer control. COSA, with our cancer clinicians and other health care professionals, works collaboratively with consumers to improve outcomes for all Australians affected by cancer. We have long advocated the importance of consumers having the opportunity to provide an independent voice on issues relating to access to treatments, provision of quality care, cancer research and cancer control policy.

Submission to Gynaecological Cancer Inquiry
Cancer Voices Victoria has been represented at the Senate Inquiry into Gynaecological Cancer. Our well received submission highlighted the psychosocial needs of people with cancers of the reproductive system such as gynaecological cancer. From our beginning we have had a brief to advocate for improved psychosocial care for people with cancer. Affordable psychosocial care is a constant theme arising from meetings of those affected by cancer.

EdCaN
EdCaN - the National Cancer Nursing Education Project EdCaN aims to develop and implement a national training package for nurses to become specialised in cancer care. The project will be conducted over four years from 2005 to 2009. The project is auspiced by the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre in association with other Australian cancer care institutions, universities and professional associations. EdCaN is funded by the Federal Department of Health and Ageing as part of its Strengthening Cancer Care initiative for 2005 to 2009.

Cancer care
The objective of this project is to develop targeted professional development packages for a broad range of cancer professionals. The project is being conducted in two phases.The first phase is a scoping study to review current professional development and to identify gaps in professional development for cancer professionals, general practitioners and counsellors.

ASCO and ESMO
The American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) and the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO), two of the world’s leading oncology societies, recently issued a joint Consensus Statement on Quality Cancer Care for patients across the globe. The 10-point statement outlines goals to provide access to and continuity of quality cancer care worldwide and will be published jointly in the Journal of Clinical Oncology (JCO) and the Annals of Oncology.

Cancer Australia
As part of the Strengthening Cancer Care initiative, the Federal Government has established a new organisation. Cancer Australia has taken over the oversight and funding of a number of major projects in this area.
